Disappointing Products + FOTD

I really dislike it when I have to talk super negatively about stuff. I know I seem to do it loads, but I like make up and it makes me feel sad when something is disappointing or doesn’t live up to expectations. Is that odd?

I really tried to like all of these; I really did!

My first disappointing product is B.Even Oil Control Foundation, which I have the shade 010 Linen. It doesn’t seem to control any oil or shine, there is little-to-no coverage (seriously, I put it on and it’s invisible!) yet it still makes me look orange within a matter of minutes! Just not good and I was really hoping for big things from this one! Next is another item from B. Beauty and that’s B.Sculpted Contour Kit. I  got the shade 109 Light and honestly, the powder’s not brilliantly pigmented and the highlighter’s quite hard and difficult to get out of the pan. Again, disappointing as I expect quite a bit from B., given the fact that they’re on the higher end of the high street price range The Revlon Nearly Naked pressed powder in 010 Fair was also a let down. I bought it as an emergency powder whilst I was out and powderless one day but again, it underperformed. All it seemed to do to my skin was cake it- yet at the same time not really masking shine or helping set my foundation etc- and the colour seemed to be weirdly on the dark side. Not impressed. Neither am I impressed with the SEVENTEEN Phwoarr Paint concealer, in the shade Fair. Now the shade match was good, but I just don’t like using the product. It’s difficult to apply or work with, seemed to crease almost instantly; not good. Finally, I bought the NYC Expert Last lipstick in Traffic Jam again as an emergency as I went to Yorkshire with my brother’s band and forgot to pack a lipstick! I ran to Superdrug and grabbed something on the cheap, but whilst I wasn’t expecting amazing things given the price point I was expecting something better than what I got. The colour was nice, but there wasn’t much payoff on my lips and the product seemed to bleed instantly even with lip liner etc underneath. I ended up looking a little Heath Ledger-as-the-Joker, which is never a good look unless it’s Halloween!

So those were my disappointing products- I’d love to hear if you disagree with my opinions of any of these?

Finally, I thought I’d share with you a quick Face of the Day for Easter Sunday. I even used my new Naked2!

My lipstick is Exxxaggerate by Sleek and it’s a lovely, somehow subtle purple that I must remember to use more often. I also used the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin foundation in Light Beige, over the top of the B.Even foundation, followed by a dusting of Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot, the B.Sculpted kit (to remind myself why I disliked it so much!), Hervana by Benefit as blush, then the MUA Power Brow, Eyeko Skinny liner, Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara and three shades from Naked 2 on my eyes.

I patted Bootycall all over the lid and up to the browbone, followed by Tease blended out from the crease and finally a tiny bit of Pistol in the outer corner. I really like how it looked and I’m going to be experimenting with the palette more this week!
