Bit of a mixed bag today.
On the one hand- YAY, I have hit 50 followers via WordPress, thank you to everyone that follows me and welcome to my new followers.
On the other hand- my leopard gecko died very suddenly today. I found her this morning when I went to switch her heat pad for the light, and I feel awful. I somehow feel like I killed her, that it’s my fault. My parents keep telling me ‘it’s just a lizard’ and yeah, okay, I didn’t have the same relationship with her that I do with my dogs but I can’t stop crying. She was a beautiful, living thing in my care and she’s dead. She was healthy, as far as I’m aware, and she wasn’t even quite nine years old. Don’t really know what to think. 😦
Anyway… music?
1- Backstreet Boys- Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)
Possibly the greatest music video of all time? I think so. My brother and I watched ‘This Is The End’ on our Lad’s Night In (amazing film!) and this song features quite heavily, I won’t say how or why because that will spoil it. But I can’t stop listening to it or watching the video now, because it’s amazing. Amazing.
2- Chvrches- Recover
I mentioned last week (or the week before?!) that I am currently obsessed with Chvrches. It’s true; the CD hasn’t left my car since I bought it and I am really loving their synth-tastic, electro vibe. I was talking to my brother the other day and I mentioned that I’m worried about my taste in music, haha, that I’m turning into a bit of a cliched hipster… Oh well, I’ll roll with it!
3- Florence and the Machine- I’m Not Calling You A Liar (Dragon Age 2 soundtrack version)
I’m still jonesing over the Dragon Age games 24/7, seriously; I do not believe a more perfect gaming series has ever existed than these. Anyway, I’m a FATM fan anyway, but the version of this song that plays over the final credits of Dragon Age 2 is amazing. The original is great, but there’s something about this one. It’s perfect for the game, especially two of the characters (Varric and Anders, if you’re wondering, but for very different reasons). Love it.
4- Cradle of Filth- Tragic Kingdom
I’m a big Cradle of Filth fan at any rate, but this song has continued to pop up when I put my iPod on shuffle for some reason so I’ve been listening to it a lot. It’s great, Godspeed on the Devil’s Thunder is an album that has really grown on me over time and this is one of the best tracks, I think.
5- Gwen Stefani- What You Waiting For?
For some reason, I’ve been in a Gwen Stefani mood this week. I wasn’t ever a massive No Doubt or solo-Gwen fan the first time round- I liked it well enough, but I wasn’t a huge fan- but she has grown on me. This is a classic and I like the New Wavey thing she has goin on in this song in particular.
