Music Monday #3

One week to go, and I’ll have a week off for Half Term. The time is flying past, because after Half Term, there are only six weeks left til Summer! It’s bonkers, really.

Here are my five picks for this week.

1- Chvrches- We Sink

I heard this when I was listening to Radio 1 late at night on my way home from babysitting- I normally listen to Radio 2, as I am a middle aged man, but after about nine o’clock I switch over because I’m not a massive jazz fan- and it got into my head really quickly! I then saw the album in HMV and figured I’d take a risk and picked it up, which was a good thing because I really like it!

2- Hell- Save Us From Those Who Would Save Us

Hell are one of my favourite bands at the moment. I love their take on the NWOBHM sound, because they’ve got this theatrical, ridiculous and tongue-in-cheek darkness to it. They’re also one of the best bands I have ever seen live. This is an immense track!

3- Lana Del Rey- West Coast

This is another track that I’ve listened to loads on the radio, but y’know it’s Lana so I don’t mind! I didn’t like this at first, but it’s grown on me. It’s languid but amazing and just has this lazy, decadent, summery feel that makes it perfect for the time of year.

4- The Birthday Massacre- Looking Glass

Aaaaah I love The Birthday Massacre! Haha, I’d love to catch them live when they come round again. This is the title track from their Looking Glass EP and it’s pretty damn catchy. I’ve been listening to a lot of The Birthday Massacre, even though I didn’t really do any decent workouts or anything this week, but I usually listen to a lot of TBM so it’s all good.

5- Sonata Arctica- The End Of This Chapter

This is known by Sonata Arctica fans as ‘the stalker song’ and with good reason. It’s my favourite Sonata Arctica track and I love the fact that it’s creepy but, in a very strange way, sort of romantic in an insane, totally disturbing way? I don’t know how much sense that makes or what that makes me sound like but there you go!
