Spending Ban Day #5

I really don’t think my mum understands what I mean by spending ban.

So, we went to Matalan today. I went along because I wanted to see if they had any nice room stuff or bedding or anything that I could point out to my mum for el birthday, and generally because I wanted out. of. the. house. I also wanted to have a sneaky peek at their ‘holiday’ clothes, to start making a bit of a list for bits and bobs I could get in June once my ban is up and for my holiday. Have started a secret Pinterest board, of course, but it’s nice to have a proper, ‘in-the-flesh’ look at them.

However, I don’t think my mum understood me when I said ‘I’m looking, not buying’. I fell in love with a pair of floral shorts and, in spite of myself and my better judgement, a white (WHITE!?) t-shirt that said #GEEK on it. Now, these were crazy, crazy things for me to be looking at. Of course, a fat girl shouldn’t be looking at shorts or white t-shirts! Also, I’ve kind of hated the ‘NERD/GEEK’ trend. You’re not a geek, nor are you a nerd, so put those empty-lensed thick-rimmed glasses down and step away from that Big Bang Theory boxset. For the record, I’m not bashing Big Bang, nor am I guilty of ‘geek elitism’, it just frustrates me to no end to see t-shirts and jumpers all over the place saying ‘GEEK’. I can’t be the only one? Anyway, regardless, I moved on to have a look at leggings and when I turned round my mum had put both pieces of clothing in her trolley.

“Oh, don’t worry about it, I’ll buy it for you.”

Whilst I’m not complaining- I spent £0 and got a few new bits of clothing- I really don’t think she understands the concept of not spending for a month!

As we speak, I am wearing the floral shorts, and it is something I never thought I would be wearing. They look really good over the top of some of my black leggings and I’m surprisingly loving them. My brother, otoh, hates them. I tried them on, walked in the room, he looked at me and said:

“It looks like you’ve mugged a Hawaiian man and made shorts out of his shirt.”

Thanks bro! I might take a picture of these shorts to act as my ‘Daily Look’ for today. I’m still wearing what I wore out, just with the addition of blue floral loveliness!

I’m also really looking forward to ‘shopping my stash’ again tomorrow. Considering making tomorrow a ‘free make up’ day, but I probably won’t.
