This is just a quick post, inspired by many YouTube gurus, detailing what I would call my ‘every day make up kit’. It varies on any given day- I might not wear any make up, then the next day I wear these products, then the day after that I might fancy a brightly coloured eye- you never can tell! But I still think this is probably my default look!
Just a point to mention- I really did try to produce at least a photo tutorial, detailing what I do, dear fat fashion fans. Unfortunately, the lack of a decent camera made this almost impossible. We soldier on, do we not!?
Now, I will admit that a couple of these products are fairly new, but they have replaced their former versions in my current ‘go to’ selection! This is the make up I will usually reach for on any given day.
First, I will cleanse and moisturise (I use Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean, and Soap and Glory Feel Good Factor moisturiser) and then I will usually prime my face with ELF’s Mineral Primer- before this I used a number of sample sized versions of Benefit or Urban Decay primers. I’ll then conceal any bags or particular blemishes with ELF’s All Over Cover Stick in Apricot Beige, and then use MaxFactor Creme Puff powder foundation in Truly Fair- I usually like to use this on it’s own, but I will use it over the top of a liquid or cream foundation if using! I’ve been using this powder for absolutely years and it’s a really good match for my skin! At the moment if I use blush I reach for Benefit Dandelion and sweep a very sheer layer along the path of my cheek bones, blending from the centre out towards my temple. Then I normally do my eyes- priming the lids with Soap and Glory It’s About Prime- and then applying Shade 2 of the MUA Undressed Palette all over the lid, followed by Shade 1 in the inner corner and Shade 4 in the outer V. The current eye liner I use is just a really cheap, black pencil from Primark of all places (!) and I’ll just apply a very thin line to the outer half of my lower lash line, and then blend and drag it across with a smaller brush or the ELF smudge brush. Then it’s a quick fill in of the brows with Soap and Glory Arch de Triumph if required, followed by Bourjois Volumizer on my top lashes only. I tend to stay away from lip colour on a normal day, instead using a balm- currently I’m alternating between Nivea Pearly Shine and Nivea Milk and Honey from a tin I got for Christmas, with a quick scrub of LUSH Mint Julips if they need a bit of an ex-foliation!
So this is my usual make up routine! As I’ve said, I change it up quite a lot but this is probably default mode. I would recommend all of the products here- especially the super cheap pencil from Primark!
Do MUA have any other colours? Sorely tempted to pick up a palette (or 6) when I go out tomorrow, and to think I was only going for hair dye. Incidentally – any suggestions on what colour I should go? Chances are I’ll be self colouring, and it’ll be the first time I’ve tried it. Thinking mousse?
MUA have lots of single shadows at £1 each- seriously a massive range of colours and finishes, and they are all very good quality!- and about five other palettes, I think. ‘Starry Night’ and ‘Glitterball’ are two other very good palettes I would recommend 🙂 Aaaand hmm… You always look good with red shades, although I can’t remember what colour you are now! Mousses are very good for ease of application, and they don’t give a bad finish either.
I’m trying to think about what colours I have, eyeshadow-wise. I have the first sleek palette, and Too Faced’s Natural at Night collection (which is AMAZING). More glitter could be good, though if the price is right it could be dangerous
I’m considering getting some Too Faced when I have the money- is it any good? The MUA glitter palette is good, but the best one I have is Sleek Sparkle 2, hands down!
I’m not sure there’s a sleek section in the Superdrug in Hawick – but if the rain stops today I shall be taking a look!
The Too Faced eyeshadows I got are beautiful, though it took me weeks to finally decide I was going to get them (first time I went, the buggers were out of stock due to it being a points event in Boots). Also they come with wee cards to suggest looks to you which I didn’t know about – the consultant came into the store whilst I was tidying the products and gave me a lesson.
